Our Mission
Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with one mission: to place homeless dogs into loving, lifelong homes. As Michigan’s largest no-kill facility, we are proud to provide “A home along the way” for dogs in need. Unlike many organizations, Mackenzie’s receives no state, local, or federal funding and relies solely on private donations and community support. Every contribution makes a meaningful difference in the lives of the dogs who depend on us.

Our Mission:
At Mackenzie’s, we rescue abused, abandoned, and neglected dogs from shelters and rescues across Michigan, giving them the second chance they deserve. Our work goes beyond rescue—we focus on carefully matching each dog with the right forever family, promoting spay and neuter efforts to prevent unwanted litters, and educating the public to improve the welfare of our local animal community. We are also committed to providing the highest standards of care, including general and specialized veterinary treatment, one-on-one training, and behavioral support. Above all, we believe every dog deserves love, compassion, and dignity, and whether they stay with us for weeks, months, or years, they will always have “A home along the way.”
