Originally a stray, Bismarck found sanctuary at MAS in September of 2020. Despite his rough start, this resilient pup has shown incredible spirit and determination in the face of adversity.

When Bismarck first arrived, it was clear that he had some untreated allergies resulting in patches of baldness on his backside. His allergies also led to Bismarck suffering from reoccurring aural hematomas (blood blisters) on his ears. Unfortunately, due to the severity of his skin infection causing hair follicle damage, he may never regrow the fur on his neck, rump, or tail.

As if his skin conditions weren’t rough enough, Bismark also battles chronic enteropathy – which is a group of complex gastrointestinal disorders causing stomach irritation and diarrhea, mild crepitus (arthritis) of his elbows, and pulpitis – which is an inflammation of the soft inner tissue of his teeth. Thanks to a special veterinary-prescribed diet and medications, his health conditions are now well-managed allowing Bismarck to remain playful and full of spunk! He is a lively and intelligent boy who seizes every moment with enthusiasm. Whether it’s engaging in an enthusiastic game of tug-of-war or curling up for cozy snuggles, Bismarck embraces life to the fullest, regardless of his conditions!
