Dixie’s First Week at Home 6-11-2009
Mom said things have been good! Dixie is still working on her boundaries with the kitty, but overall they are doing fine together. When the kitty swats at Dixie, she listens well and walks away. Plus Mom is able to distract Dixie, or give Dixie her own separate space in her room for a few minutes if she’s bugging the kitty too much. ” title=”Smile” />
When it comes to walks, at first Dixie was nervous of walking in the new neighborhood because of all the new noises, cars, people, etc. Dixie preferred to stay at home where she felt “safe.” So Mom did slow introductions each day, and even a
car-ride to the park, and now Dixie is doing better about going for walks to explore the neighborhood. Today Dixie was very excited for a walk, because she saw another woman walking her dogs on the sidewalk, so of course Dixie wanted to join them! ” title=”Smile” />
Dixie’s personality is starting to come out more with each day that goes by. She’s showing a little more of a playful side, yet she’s not overly hyper – she knows how to be frisky, and knows how to relax, which Mom says is a nice balance of energy.
Overall Mom said that Dixie is doing well, and is “quite a NICE dog….. she’s such a lover, and everybody who meets her loves her too.”
