    One of the first stories I heard when I started working for Mackenzie’s was a horrific story of neglect. The victim was a beautiful Pitbull named Smokey. Smokey’s spirit wasn’t broken, he was always bright-eyed, smiling, and always full of energy. I knew that I wanted to adopt him but adopting a dog was a big decision. One day while Smokey was out on a walk with a volunteer he turned and looked at me as if to say “Why aren’t you walking me.” I knew at that point I had to make him part of my family. Now he lives with his older sister Fel, a Rottweiler/Border Collie mix. He loves his nature walks, going for jogs, napping on the couch, meeting new people, and just loves making new dog friends. Adopting Smokey has been one of the best decisions I have made, he certainly completes my family.
