Chubbs

Are you ready to make a difference in the life of an adorable 40-pound bundle of joy named Chubbs? This lovable guy found sanctuary at MAS earlier this year, and he needs your support to overcome a tough obstacle: heartworm.

What is heartworm, you ask? Well, let’s break it down. When an infected mosquito bites a dog like Chubbs, that has unfortunately not been given prevention, tiny heartworm larvae transfer into the bloodstream. These tiny parasites, as stealthy as they are dangerous, travel through the bloodstream and make themselves at home inside poor Chubbs’ endearing heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels of affected pets. Heartworm is a serious and potentially fatal disease growing into foot-long worms (yes, you read that right!) over several months, wreaking havoc to pets like Chubbs along the way.

Despite his current health condition, Chubbs’ spirit remains unbroken. True to his nature, Chubbs embodies the very essence of a Beagle: loyal, playful, and endlessly loving. He is a resilient pup who adores people. Whether he’s howling with delight or leading the way sniffing out new scents on a spirited outdoor excursion. Chubbs is sure to steal your heart and leave an undeniable paw print on your soul.

Fortunately for Chubbs, there is good news: heartworm disease is treatable!

The journey to recovery may prove to be a long and challenging battle, but through the diligence of the MAS veterinary team and the passionate care of staff and volunteers, Chubbs is receiving the treatment and attention he deserves. Each day brings him closer to a brighter tomorrow, where he can once again frolic in the sunshine and soon, share his boundless love with a forever family. So, in honor of dogs like Chubbs, let’s spread the word about prevention and help more pets live happy, healthy lives!

Chubbs is now heartworm free and ready to to find his forever family! Could it be you?
