Rehoming/Lost or Found Dog
Mackenzie’s is a dog rescue and does not accept cats, farm animals, or wildlife. Mackenzie’s does not accept owner surrenders; we collaborate exclusively with other Michigan rescues when space is available.
For placing a dog(s):
- Please visit nokillnetwork.org and select your state to view a list of local rescues.
- There is also a “Re-home Your Pet” link on the site, which provides guidance for finding a home for your pet independently, rather than placing them in a rescue.
- Rehoming your pet – Petfinder
For placing/helping other animals:
For cats, please search for “cat rescues near me” or visit nokillnetwork.org. You may also contact your local animal control or humane society for further assistance.
For wildlife, please search for “wildlife rehabilitation near me” for more information.
If this response does not address your inquiry, please feel free to reach out again, and I will respond as soon as possible.

LOST OR FOUND DOG
Always call your local and surrounding Animal Control Departments and Shelters first. Give them the details of the dog and your phone number so they can contact you if your dog is found or dropped off.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Facebook (especially if you post to a ‘community’ page or a ‘lost and found’ page for your area) is an amazing way to help spread the word fast.
Make sure you post a picture, the location and date the dog was found or lost. Give as many details as possible. Tell people to instant message you through facebook or list an email address if you don’t want to give out a phone number.
