12/9/2009 – Update on Kata and Sierra:
The girls are doing great! They love their new beds and seem to be settling in nicely. They have already been to the vet and taken a couple car rides. They both did great.
Dad was petting Kata in one room and He said “That’s my good girl” and Sierra ran in from the other room as if to say……are you talking to me?
They are still both attached at the hip. The family said they are in “LOVE”!
Update – 3/5/2010
Our house felt too empty since we lost our lab of 10 years to cancer. After seeing how many dogs were in shelters, we decided to find another lovable lab to be part of our family. We fell in love with Kata the black lab mix we met at Mackenzies. We were very anxious to adopt her. Knowing, however, that Kata had originally been found with Sierra (a pointer mix) we felt bad about separating them.
Today Kata and Sierra seem right-at-home with our family. We always have two dogs right at our sides, with “happy tails” constantly wagging. Our house no longer feels empty. Two HAPPY dogs equals one happy family!
Kata & Sierra love to lay in front of our gas fireplace on cold winter days. One of their favorite pastimes is sitting in the big front window to watch everything that goes past….their heads move side to side at the same time, reminding us of spectators at a tennis match!
They love car rides, so we brought them along to our family Christmas across the state. (I didn’t want them home alone all day). They loved meeting everyone…they are so friendly. We’re so glad we could give these two wonderful dogs a good home they deserve. We are having a wonderful time spending our days with them!
It is also so much fun to watch them greeting their brothers….our son Patrick comes home from school at 3pm each weekday to be met by the dogs at the door. And when our other son comes home from college on the occasional weekend they are just ecstatic to see him again!!! We love it!!!
