Gilbert was picked up as a young stray and the staff and volunteers at Mackenzie’s have really helped him buckle down on his manners which were less than desirable when he first arrived. In a quiet and patient household and quality one-on-one attention he could really blossom into a perfect companion. He is exceptionally smart; he just needs to find something to put his mind to work. In a kennel environment it is hard to keep his mind engaged and focused but, in a home, it would surely be a different story. Training classes would be a good idea too, not only to work on his manners but also to help build a great bond.

Gilbert would be better in a home without small children, cats, and dogs. He is not aggressive with other dogs; he just doesn’t understand dog etiquette very well.
