Kenai
Status: Adoptable | Adoption Survey
Date of Birth: March 30, 2017

Kenai is the kind of dog who leaves an impression. Intelligent, independent, and deeply loyal, he embodies everything that makes German Shepherds such extraordinary companions. But like many of his breed, he isn’t for just anyone—he’s waiting for the right person, someone who understands his spirit and respects his boundaries.
Before finding safety at MAS in July 2020, Kenai lived life as a stray. He’s since settled into the routine of sanctuary life, but he longs for more—a home, a purpose, and a bond with someone who truly understands him.
Kenai is a dog of great character. He thrives on structure, enjoys working through training exercises, and loves nothing more than chasing after his favorite ball. He’s strong and athletic, finding joy in swimming whenever he gets the chance. Despite his energy, Kenai also knows the value of quiet companionship, watching the world with that sharp, thoughtful gaze that Shepherd lovers know so well.
However, Kenai faces challenges that require special care. His touch sensitivity means he’s selective about handling and prefers a relationship built on trust and mutual respect. He also battles mild seasonal allergies and arthritis in his lower back and elbows, making proper management essential for his comfort. Medications, joint supplements, and controlled activity help keep him feeling his best, but these come at a cost.
That’s where you come in.
By sponsoring Kenai, you ensure that he continues receiving the medical care, enrichment, and training he needs while he waits for the right home. Your support means he can enjoy his favorite activities—playing ball, swimming, and exploring—without discomfort. Most importantly, it means he’ll never feel forgotten.
Kenai is a noble soul, waiting for a future worthy of him. Until that day comes, will you stand by his side?
