Petunia
Status: Adoptable | Adoption Survey
Date of Birth: November 4, 2021

Petunia knows exactly what she likes, and she’s not shy about it. She’s a girl who lives life on her terms. For example? Splashing and playing in water? Absolutely. Bath time? Absolutely not. New toys? Yes, please. Strangers? Suspicious.
She’s a little bit particular, but once you understand her rules, you realize how much charm is packed into this independent spirit. Petunia doesn’t warm up to everyone right away. She’s got a healthy dose of stranger danger that makes first meetings a little tense, but that’s only because she’s spent part of her life learning to protect herself. She’s not trying to be difficult; she’s just careful about who she lets into her circle. But once you’re in, you’re in.
Petunia’s brain is always working. She loves problem-solving games like sniff-searches and unboxing toys filled with hidden treats. These activities not only keep her sharp but also help her build confidence and trust in her environment. Enrichment is a big part of her care here at MAS, helping her thrive while she continues to learn that the world isn’t such a scary place.
Medically, Petunia has a few things we keep an eye on. She was previously exposed to Anaplasma, a tick-borne illness that can affect a dog’s immune system, joints, and platelet count. Thankfully, Petunia isn’t showing any symptoms right now. But because past exposure can sometimes leave lingering effects, our team continues to monitor her health closely to make sure any issues are caught early. She occasionally deals with soft tissue strains in her front leg that require rest, and we suspect she may have some allergies, but none of it holds her back from enjoying her favorite activities, as long as she gets to call the shots, of course.
Sponsoring Petunia means supporting a dog who’s determined to write her own story, at her own pace. Your sponsorship helps provide the medical care, training, and enrichment activities that give Petunia the best chance at a happy, secure future. With your help, Petunia doesn’t just survive; she blossoms.
If you have a soft spot for dogs with strong opinions, big hearts, and just a little bit of sass, Petunia would be thrilled to have you in her corner!
