Heal Cinnamen’s Heart

Cinnamen, and her daughter, Little Bug, came to Mackenzie’s on 3/3/2021. Both dogs had lived their entire lives on a chain outside and were in poor condition when they arrived at Mackenzie’s. Cinnamen tested positive for heartworm. Little Bug suffered from glomerulonephritis, which is defined by the VCA as “a specific type of renal (or kidney) disease characterized by inflammation of the glomeruli. Glomeruli are tiny structures in the kidneys that act as filters for the blood.” We tried so hard to help her. Despite our best efforts and a trip to the emergency room, we weren’t able to save Little Bug, and she sadly passed away a week and a half after she arrived at Mackenzie’s.

OUR VISION

On Jan 15th 2021, we received an urgent phone call asking for help from Autumn, a wonderful animal control officer, in Montcalm County. We work with her often, and she knew we would be able to help if we could. She received a call that Friday, saying there was a dog wandering around with a mangled leg since Monday. We still can’t wrap our heads around why someone waited so long to call Animal Control. After Autumn was able to rescue him, she informed us that he was very sweet, but his leg was beyond saving. Please note that by clicking ‘read more’ you will see graphic pictures of Vision and his leg injury.
