Pupdate: Holly (aka Halo)

hollyJust wanted to give you an update. Holly continues to be an AMAZING dog. She is sharp as a tack and very loving (not to mention unbelievably cute!). She gets along great with the other two Black Labs. We have been through both Obedience I and II and out of the 3 awards given in each class, she won them all!!! Attached is a picture of us at her Obedience II graduation with her trophy for Best Trick (hug and kiss on command). Anyhow, I just wanted to give you an update! I hope all is well with you!!

Pupdate: Gio

I just wanted to thank you again for everything you and Mackenzie’s did to help me find Gio. Things are going great so far, and I thought I’d send you a few pictures to keep you updated on how things are going here. He’s settling in great, and he and Kitty are getting very comfortable around each other. I’m working from home today, and they’re both snuggled up on the couch with me. We’ve been out playing in the backyard and he loves to play fetch with tennis balls and run around and play in the snow.

Thanks again for all your help! I really appreciate it!

Canine Enrichment Outside the Kennel

ASPCA Professional

ASPCA Professional recently posted an article espousing the benefits of time outside with dogs at the kennel. We’re proud to be highlighted in the article for the work we do here at Mackenzie’s.

Dogs just wanna have fun

Time outside the kennel, with and without human companions, offers some of the best opportunities for canine enrichment:

  • The dogs get much needed exercise, which helps tire them out so that they are more relaxed in their kennels.
  • Social dogs enjoy the company of other dogs.
  • Dogs have the opportunity to exhibit natural behaviors, such as running, digging, following scents, and playing.
  • Being outdoors stimulates all of the dogs’ keen senses, which is naturally satisfying to them.
