A little treat goes a long way…

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and we’re asking for your help on the ‘giving’ part. Special treats, such as soft treats, are something we don’t want to run out of, and our inventory is getting very low.  For most dogs, soft yummy treats are a high value item…..meaning they are very motivated when soft treats are involved. They help us build relationships with fearful dogs, are a great reward when working on training, and are simply a nice little snack to give when spending down time in a ‘Real Life’ room or when saying good morning or good night.

Please help replenish our treat bin by checking out our Chewy Wishlist. Thank you again for supporting our efforts in helping rescue dogs in need!

Pictured here is the most mellow boy you’ll ever meet. Cletus is his name, and he’s looking for a forever home. Click here to view is bio.

Serenitee’s Story

Before I came to Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary, I was abandoned and left tied to a rope with a prong collar digging into my neck. Because of this experience, I don’t like people to touch or pet me too much. Strangers make me feel nervous too. Luckily the staff and volunteers understand and help me to feel comfortable by going at my pace.

Since coming here, I’ve really blossomed and I enjoy learning lots of new things. There’s always someone to teach me basic training and fun tricks. It’s wonderful! I’m excelling at agility, learning how to jump rope and skateboard, how to nudge a ball with my nose, and so much more! When I’m ready to take a break from learning, I like to un-wind with a toy or two or take a relaxing dip in the pond.

My life is night and day from where it was. Instead of living out my days being unwanted and mistreated, I am now surrounded by people who show me that I have worth and that I matter.

Unfortunately, this year I was diagnosed with advanced, end stage lymphoma (Stage 5 of 5).

I have numerous enlarged lymph nodes (under my chin, in front of my shoulders, behind my knees, and in my abdomen). I also have cancerous cells showing up in her bloodwork and a nodule in her liver. I am getting the best care and am currently doing well….please consider being my sponsor to help with my medical cost.
