What is Giving Tuesday?

On Tuesday, November 28th, 2023, millions of people will come together to support the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live. We are appreciative of any donation you are able to give to help support Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary on November 28th, 2023.

We aim to raise $15,000 to give our dogs and many more ‘The Gift of Health & Wellbeing’. Help us reach our goal by donating today to our Facebook Giving Tuesday Fundraiser page.

Not only are you helping the dogs that come to Mackenzie’s get the medical care they deserve, but you are also giving dogs a second chance at finding a ‘Loving Forever Home & Family’.

From all of us at Mackenzie’s, thank you for your continued support!

~The Gift of Health & Wellbeing~

We believe all dogs should have a healthy second, third…or fourth chance at finding a forever home. Your support is vital! Not only are you helping the dogs that come to Mackenzie’s get the medical & mental care they deserve, but you are also giving them a second chance at finding a ‘Loving Forever Home & Family’.

Most of us know firsthand that caring for just one dog can get pricey. With just annual wellness exams, vaccines, monthly preventatives, food, supplements, prescription drugs & food & plenty of enrichment adds up extremely fast! Many of the dogs that come here have had little to no medical care, so we must start from the beginning. From newborns to hospice, healthy to battling cancer; we see it all and do everything we can to provide our dogs with ‘The Gift of Health’!

On average, we spend $300,000 annually on medical costs alone! Because of YOU and your continued support, our on-site veterinary clinic can offer high quality veterinary care to every dog that calls Mackenzie’s their ‘home along the way’.

The skilled and dedicated veterinary staff at Mackenzie’s formulates a specific plan for every dog. This includes the basics, such as annual bloodwork, vaccines, spays and neuters. We’re also able to provide more in-depth care such as mass removals, routine dental cleanings (that may or may not lead to extractions), x-rays, ultrasounds, and specialized blood testing for disease.

The Gift of Enrichment is also a huge part of keeping our dogs mentally and emotionally healthy.

Although dogs can’t talk, they can express their boredom, stress, and anxiety in several ways. Common behavioral responses to kennel life include Barking, Jumping, Spinning, Chewing, Snapping, Resource Guarding & Withdrawing Mentally. These behaviors can make it difficult for us to find their forever homes. Therefore, our focus is to help improve their mental, physical, and emotional health with our enrichment & training programs. Some of the fun enrichment we do at MAS includes food puzzles, frozen treats, new toys daily, off-sites, playing in the pond, learning games, agility, basic training, and extra TLC. When engaged with enriching activities dogs are less likely to develop inappropriate behaviors, so that they remain good adoption candidates and don’t become behaviorally at risk. A mentally healthy dog is a happy dog!

With your help and support, we can continue to provide these deserving dogs with top notch care and give them the ‘Gift of Health & Wellbeing’ to live a long and happy life in a forever home. Thank you from all the staff, dogs, and volunteers at Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary for your generous support on this #givingtuesday!
