My dog doesn’t seem to want to sit for me; how can I train him to sit?
When you have your dog’s attention, you can teach him to sit. Sit is one of the easier commands to teach your dog.
To teach sit:
1. Hold the treat between your index finger and thumb with your palm up.
2. Hold the treat between the dog’s nose and mouth, so the dog can smell and even lick at the treat.
3. Tell the dog “sit” as you raise your hand slowly over his head, allowing him to follow the treat with his nose.
4. As the dog raises his head, his rear should lower to the ground. As soon as his rear touches the ground, tell him “yes” and give him the treat.
