Dog Care Attendant

Join Our Team as a Dog Care Attendant!

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary, a no-kill dog rescue, is seeking a dependable, enthusiastic, and adaptable team player to join us as a full-time Dog Care Attendant. This role requires a keen eye for detail, the ability to follow written instructions, and strict adherence to protocols for dog care, medication administration, and the safe use of cleaning chemicals. Candidates should have a genuine love for working with dogs in both indoor and outdoor settings—rain, snow, or sunshine.

At Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary, every day is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of dogs waiting for their forever homes. We’re looking for a reliable, energetic, and compassionate team player to help us provide top-notch care for our furry residents.

This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and deeply rewarding. You’ll be working with dogs of all sizes, personalities, and needs—sometimes playful, sometimes shy, sometimes a little stubborn—but always deserving of love and care.

What You’ll Do:

  • Keep kennels and common areas sparkling clean and sanitized (yes, that includes cleaning up after the pups—nature calls!).
  • Use cleaning products and chemicals safely and according to all health and safety regulations.
  • Follow daily task lists to keep our shelter running smoothly.
  • Handle dogs of all temperaments—including those that may be shy, sick, or recovering from injuries—with patience and confidence.
  • Keep an eye out for signs of illness or distress and communicate concerns right away.
  • Give every dog daily socialization and exercise—they’ll thank you with tail wags and kisses.
  • Work with your teammates to ensure all animals are cared for according to our established standards.
  • Treat every animal with kindness, compassion, and respect—always.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Someone who communicates clearly—both in person and in writing.
  • Comfort using a computer for basic tasks and reporting.
  • Willingness to work closely with dogs in all kinds of weather.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and restrain large dogs if needed.
  • A true team player who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Comfortable standing, walking, and moving around for most of your shift.
  • Able to bend, lift, and move quickly when needed.
  • Strong enough to safely handle large, energetic dogs.

If you have a passion for animals, don’t mind getting your hands dirty, and want to be part of a mission-driven team making a difference every day—this could be the perfect fit for you.

Apply today and help us give every dog the love and care they deserve!
