Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary (MAS) is the largest no-kill dog sanctuary in the Midwest and is dedicated to finding homes for abused, abandoned and neglected dogs. MAS was founded by the Azzar Family in August of 1999 after the passing of their beloved dog, Mackenzie. To honor Mack’s name, they wanted to help dogs in need and continue to do so everyday.
MAS has a capacity to house up to 115 dogs. As space allows, it is Mackenzie’s policy to assist other local animal shelters and humane societies by taking in dogs that may otherwise be euthanized.
Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary is federally recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. MAS is funded solely by private donations and does not receive any state, local or federal funding.
