Keep up the great work! Isn’t it funny how a little consistency goes a long way.
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberI wonder if it isnt people going out and purposefully picking dogs that arent black but if it just turns out that way by chance. Maybe the black dogs just dont catch their eyes like some of our brighter dogs do. I dont know its just all strange to me
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberI went back to isolation to look at them and they look adorable. Guido had the biggest smile I’ve ever seen and he had the wiggle butt. Gracie was a little unsure but adorable nonetheless.
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberThey were so much fun to introduce to each other for the first time the day before. There was no sniffing first then playing. It was all play for the first ten minutes, take a quick break to sniff each other, then back to playing. They are just too cute!!
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberI don’t get the thing about black dogs and especially male black dogs not being as adoptable as others. For the longest time in my home all of our pets (dogs and cats) were all black with touches of white. Not by design, just by happen stance. Then touches of grey and red entered the picture. Not because of their color, but because of who they were. That’s ideally how it should be.
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberI remember when Smokey came here wearing nothing but skin & bones. You would never know this is the same dog that endured such a horrific past – he’s quite a muscle mass now. And quite the gentleman. Then Jorel came here – You can just see the love when Jorel & Smokey are together! There’s an aura that you just can’t miss! Soul mates!
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberHe’s diffidently as special boy! You guys have such a beautiful bond. It’s so wonderful that he’s so loving after all the abuse he went through, if he were a human he probably wouldn’t be so resilient.
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberI heard about her from Diana yesterday as she had tested her with George on Monday. Let’s just say the monitors at the test house are not working quite like they used to.
CarolMackenzie’s AdminMemberSpeaking of patience…I had to wait almost five minutes for Ava to sit today before I went into her run to poop scoop. I wasnt backing down though. Then I realized she didnt want to sit down because it was wet outside. She tried but when her little butt would touch the ground she would pop right back up. So I decided that was good enough and went in and gave her some loving.
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberI haven’t meet these two yet. If Diana & George have not yet tested them for Meet Your Match, maybe I’ll get to next week. I love testing the new dogs. It’s so interesting so see what their "canine-alities" are. If, unfortunately, they are still around for the 6-month test, it’s interesting to see if they have changed. Some do and it is always for the better. Some of the new dogs are a little unsure when they are first tested but by the second test they are more at home and secure.
CarolMackenzie’s AdminMemberI spent some "goodby" time with Conroy yesterday. He is one of my favs. He sure loves toys – he played for the whole 40 minutes except for when I had him do his tricks. He did all the usual ones plus one more. Whenever I held out my hand and said "shake" or held up my hand and said "high five" his paw came up. I’m so happy he is going home but I will miss him. Maybe I brought him luck – my plant from the Griffins walkathon had his picture on the "stick".
CarolMackenzie’s AdminMemberI concur; I don’t know why no one really sets out to adopt a big black dog.
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberBentley is a wonderful dog! I hope that someone adopts him and gets him certified as a therapy dog.
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberYes, they sure are cuties! A caption might be: Leggo my ear!
