The other day I had to pick Scooter up from the vet’s office. I was a little nervous of how she would be in the car, along with the fact that the roads were extremely nasty. Scooter got right in the back seat for me, she was super excited. As we went down the road she first wanted to stand on the middle console between the front seats, but after a few corrections she settled right down in the back. Several times I would look over my shoulder to make sure she was doing ok and she would just be sitting up so proud. She looked like a princess being driven around town What a silly girl!!
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberFarley sounds like he was a great dog.
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberAlways wondered how Scooter would do on an off site. She is such a Love. I wish everyone knew just how sweet she is.
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberRoo really surprised me the 3rd of this month by going on a walk with just me He really seems to like his walks. Everyone else was busy doing other things so I decided I would see how far we could get. We walked as far as the Octagon drive. Roo got a little scared when someone came towards us on the tractor. Roo is still a little afraid of moving vehicles. So I took him a little ways up the drive to the octagon, got down on one knee and tucked my head. He came around behind me and stayed there while the tractor went by. Then we continued our walk. Can’t wait to walk him when the weather is nicer
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberHis behavior modification is going incredibly well. Not only can I touch him all over but other staff members can do so also.
Today I wanted to help him overcome his fear of fast movements so tried to engage him in play from a standing and play bow position. He started to lip lick and become a bit apprehensive so I determined I should try from a less dominant posture. I got on my hands and knees and play bowed from that position using quick, short movements. He became excited and started play bowing, running around, jumping on furniture, ( A quick Nope for that. : ) ) As he became stimulated he became a little mouthy in play mode. He settled down quickly. Very exciting!!!
He now sits pretty, rolls over, stays fairly well and most of his obedience. Yeah Quincy!!!
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberI’m so very happy that Princess has you and your furry kids in her life right now. She couldn’t have asked for a better foster Mom then you. Keep up the great work!
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberhey someone’s gotta be the ‘big man on campus’…. full of confidence and proudly struttin their stuff…. looks like Elroy thinks he’s ‘da man Gotta love him!! I’m glad he can just be himself here and we can accept him for who he is.
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberQuincy is so sweet and affectionate when he warms up and trusts you. What a lover! I look forward to him continuing to come out of his shell, trust more people, and hopefully one day find the committed "forever family" he truly deserves.
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberi agree Scooter is an amazing girl, so well-mannered, laidback and affectionate with her people. . . . she is going to make some family VERY happy to have her as a devoted companion!!
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberGotta love those big, ferocious (LOL) Rotties!
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberWe are fortunate to have a team of people like you who care and can have a positive affect on a dog’s behavior. I am drawn to Quincy, being a Rottie mix (and a big, black dog), and look forward to him progressing into an adoptable companion. He’s such a handsome fellow!
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberToday was another BIG step for Roo. I took him on another walk. This time with Rick and Roo’s other brother Rusty. Roo was really into walking today. There were 2 people in the parking lot outside the building and he didn’t mind. He was very interested in the different smells along the way, and he walked twice as far today as the first time he went out. There was a noisy truck that came by us that startled him some. So I got down on one knee and he hid behind me till it was past. The other car a lot quieter didn’t bother him as much. Still had a little rouble getting him back in the kennel, but with a lot of patience he came thru it just like a Pro.

Mackenzie’s AdminMemberCause for celebration!! I am sure Roo is thankful for all Kathy’s time, patience, and perseverence. It’s so exciting to hear about Roo’s progress, which seems to be accelerating these last few months. It’s heartwarming to know that Roo is starting to enjoy new environments, which is probably very exciting to him! I am amazed to see a feral dog come so far and it is uplifting to see Kathy’s face light up each time Roo achieves success. Way to go, Kathy & Roo!
Mackenzie’s AdminMemberWhat a Great day. I decided that maybe Roo was ready to follow his brother Sport for a real walk. He surprised both Alaree and I by really being interested in going out of the kennel. He did so well. I was so proud of him. Even though he decided to stop quite a few times to look around. We just took our time, and I think he really enjoyed himself. It took him a little bit to come back through the door but he even got over that. This is the first time spent with him that he didn’t bark the whole 20 minutes. Thanks to the patience of Alaree and Sport Roo’s brother. WTG Roo I’m so proud of you.
